Stump N' GrindCall

Can a stump be ground right next to a house, fence or septic?

Yes, in most cases a stump against a house, fence or retaining wall can be ground safely. The key is the machine: a narrow, tracked grinder run by remote control, with the operator standing clear.

How access gets checked

We look at gate width, slope, soft ground and how close the stump is to anything fixed. Customers who sent photos described getting a yes or no before anyone came out; when it was close, Robert checked the yard first to make sure the machine could get in and out.

Close to a house

The cutting wheel throws chips. We set up safety barriers and shields around the work area to block chips and small rocks.

Close to a fence or wall

Tell us what the stump touches. We grind up to it, and we tell you if something is too close to grind safely.

Close to septic

Tell us first. Tanks and lids can be shallow, so we plan the route around them.
